Basalt Columns

Basalt columns are naturally formed when large lava flows cool in a particular way over millions of years. They are 5 or 6 sided with diameters from 3” to 48”. The skin or crust on the outside of the columns will have a patina that ranges from beige to red to almost black and will often contain a multitude of colors. The inside of basalt is black and polishes up to a rich luster.
